Gordon, Walter Henry, 1863-1924

Walter Henry Gordon (b. June 24, 1863, Artonish, Mississippi-d. April 26, 1924, Washington, D.C.), Major General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point and was commissioned in the infantry in 1886. After fighting in the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection, he served on the General Staff and in the Philippines. In 1917 he commanded the 15th Infantry in China, and during World War I he commanded the 10th Brigade in France and was also commanding officer, 6th Division. Prior to General Gordon's retirement, he served as Deputy Chief Of Staff.
