Bieter, Raymond Nicholas, 1900-1990.

Raymond Nicholas Bieter was born in Heron Lake, Minnesota on October 9, 1900. He attended the College of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota, and studied at Johns Hopkins before returning to teach pharmacology at the University of Minnesota in 1931. Bieter became Head of the Pharmacology Dept. in 1942, and Asst. Dean of the Medical School and Director of Educational Services in 1962. In addition, Bieter worked as a consultant to 3M Company and to Sterling-Winthrop Drug Company, and served on the State Board of Examiners in Basic Sciences. He was also Chief of Pharmacology Staff at Hennepin County General Hospital from 1942 to 1969. On his retirement from the University of Minnesota, Bieter began working on nursing home evaluation for the State of Minnesota, a position he held four years.
