Evans, Richard L.
Evans served as Acting Master's Mate on the Benton, an ironclad steamer, 1864-1868. He is not listed in the Michigan Soldiers and Sailors Index. The Benton was built in 1861 and served on the Mississippi River. It was sold in Nov. 1865. (Information about the Benton from a website on Civil War vessels.).
