Jaques, Bertha E. (Bertha Evelyn), 1863-1941
Bertha E. Jaques served as treasurer and secretary of the Chicago Society of Etchers for twenty-seven years, an organization that she helped to found after moving to Chicago in 1883. Internationally known for her etchings of plant life, Jaques wrote several books including poetry, and was active in the Arts Club, Cordon Club, Wild Flower Preservation Society, and Audubon Society. She passed away in Chicago in March, 1941, at the age of seventy-seven and was survived by her husband, Dr. William K. Jaques.
