Valentine, Wm. A. (William A.)
The Denver and New Orleans Railroad project was initiated by Colorado Governor John Evans and others in the 1880s to provide Denver an intended route to the Gulf of Mexico. However, the actual route as constructed was only to Pueblo, Colo., where it linked up with the Fort Worth & Denver City Railway. It was the first standard gauge railroad to cross Douglas County, operating between Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
