Champion, H. H. (Henry Hyde), 1859-1928.
Henry Hyde Champion was one of the first English Social Democrats. After a career in the army he became increasingly interested in Socialism. He visited Australia in 1890 to observe at the Dock Strike. In 1894 he returned to Australia permanently, settling in Melbourne. Champion worked as a journalist and publisher, establishing the Australasian Authors' Agency.
Christopher Crisp edited the Bacchus Marsh Express for many years and was active in local affairs.
