Coffin family.
Morse Coffin came to St. Vrain Valley (Colorado) from Boon's County, Illinois in 1859 at the age of 22. Homesteaded the Sandstone Ranch in 1860. Fought in the Sand Creek Massacre. Married Julia Dunbar in 1865 and had five children. Wrote the book, The Battle of Sand Creek which wasn't published until 50 years after his death. Geneva, the oldest child was a student at the University of Colorado and became a teacher. Married James T. Craig, who worked as a cattleman in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and had one child Neva Jean Craig. Geneva's brother Merton lived in Havanna, Cuba in the early 1900s with his wife Nora. As of 1930, Merton and Nora moved to Sandstone Ranch.
