Sample, Alfred, 1846-1902.

Circuit judge living in Paxton, Illinois, born in Ohio and came to Illinois with his parents, served in the Civil War, studied law with Robert G. Ingersoll and was successful in his suit against the railroad for setting the fee for travel at three cents a mile. Elected judge of the 11th Judicial District in 1885 and served six years. Appointed Appellate Judge of the 4th District in 1891.
