African American teacher and principal, 1888-1890; editorial columnist for several black newspapers; letter carrier, 1890-1931, and Methodist deacon, of Greenville, S.C.; attended Clark University, 1884-1887; served as Secretary and Chaplain of local chapter of Letter Carriers' Association;father of 9 children; husband of Harriette Rebecca Jordan; born in Charleston, S.C., son of Cornelius James Holloway (b.1845) and Frances Brown Holloway (1843-1873).
