Wilson, James Charles, 1895-1968.

Rancher, farmer, Pecos River Compact Commissioner. Born in 1895 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. A veteran of World War I, Wilson moved to Pecos, Texas, in 1917 to join Pecos Mercantile where he worked until the late 1940s when he began farming full-time. He founded Texas Cotton Industries and Big Bend Gin Company. Credited with building the Pecos River Basin into a large cotton growning area through extensive irrigation. Served 19 years as the Texas Commissioner of the Texas-New Mexico Pecos River Commission. He died August 21, 1968.
