Medical University of South Carolina. College of Pharmacy
The School of Pharmacy was created by the Medical College of South Carolina in 1881. After two years the pharmacy program was discontinued but then resumed in1894. The program leading to a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy was begun in 1936. A Doctor of Pharmacy degree program was begun in 1973, and a PhD program in pharmaceutical sciences was initiated in 1982. When the Medical College achieved university status, the School of Pharmacy became the College of Pharmacy and continued to operate as an individual College under the aegis of the Medical University of South Carolina until 2009.
