Nichols, Thomas, 1808-1893.

Thomas Nichols was the son of Thomas (1779-1824) and Mariam Stafford Nichols (1781-1866) of Danby, Vermont. He was born on November 25, 1808, in Mount Tabor, Vermont, and died in Danby on February 13, 1893. He married Judith Ann Round (1811-1896), of Clarendon, Vermont, on October 28, 1835. He was a hotel proprietor in Fort Ann, N.Y., a marble dealer in Danby, a farmer, and a justice of the peace. Thomas and Judith Nichols had six children; their firstborn died early and was followed by Nancy Porter, then Nathan Round, Elisabeth, Miriam, and Ann Judith Nichols.

Nathan Round Nichols was born on July 17, 1840 in Fort Ann, N.Y. and died on June 5, 1930 in Brookfield, Illinois. He first married Frances Harriet Leach (d. 1901) of Pittsford, Vermont in 1870. He remarried to Lucy Morton Whitmore of Stamford, Connecticut, in 1903. Nathan Nichols had four surviving children by his first marriage. He graduated from Middlebury College in 1866 and Andover Seminary in 1870 and was a Congregational clergyman. His churches included Barnet, Norwich, and Sudbury, Vermont. He retired from the ministry in 1912.
