Hanley, Franklin Bell

Franklin Bell Hanley was born in 1898. He earned his degree from the University of Minnesota and was an instructor in the Geology Department from 1937 to 1942. He also taught at George Washington University and Columbia. In addition to his teaching duties, Franklin Hanley was a field geologist for the Minnesota Geological Survey and a member of the Minneapolis Geological Society.

In World War I, Franklin Hanley served as an army officer in the infantry; he continued his service to the military in World War II by taking a leave of absence from the University of Minnesota in June 1942 to become executive secretary at the Naval Radio and Sound Laboratory in San Diego, California. Franklin Hanley died on April 24, 1944 at the age of 45.
