Represented are Louise (Anderson) Patten (1880-1973) of California; her sister, Gwynn Page (Anderson) Whipple (1882-1943) of California; their mother, Maria Burwell (Carter) Anderson; and various eighteenth- and nineteenth-century ancestors, including John Carter (1690- 1742) of Corotoman in Lancaster County, Va.; Robert Wormeley Carter (1734- 1797) of Sabine Hall in Richmond County, Va.; Mary (Tayloe) Page (1759- 1835); Lewis Burwell (1781-1867); Roberta Page Burwell (1813-1856); and Mann Page Carter (1850-1942), a civil engineer who lived in New Orleans, La., and Winchester, Va., and worked in Chile, Colombia, and Mexico.
