Delhi Oxford Project on Poverty (welfare project : 1978 : University of Glasgow, Scotland)

The Dehli Oxford Project on Poverty was set up in 1978 in Glasgow to investigate poverty, income distribution and employment in India. It was financed by the Ministry of Overseas Development, and its main participants were Radha Sinah, a senior lecturer in political economy at the University of Glasgow , Peter Pearson and Mary Gregory, also both lecturers in political economy at the University of Glasgow. Gopal Kadekodi, a reader at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, India, was also involved. The aim of the study was to contribute to the exploration of the basic needs strategy as India had very high levels of poverty.
