Drexel family.

The Drexel family came to prominence in Philadelphia when the Austrian immigrant Francis Martin Drexel left his career as an artist/painter and opened a currency brokerage house. In 1837, Francis's son, Anthony J., took over the thriving business from his father and built a large fortune as a banker and Wall Street broker. In 1891, A.J. Drexel founded the Drexel Institute with longtime business partner George W. Childs.
