Ideson, Julia B., 1880-1945
Julia Ideson was the first and only head librarian of the Houston Public Library from 1904 until 1945. She oversaw the tremendous growth of the library both in terms of use and acquisitions. Miss Ideson was the first woman from Houston listed in Who's Who. Other honors included being President of the Texas Library Association and the first vice-president of the American Library Association.
