Knubel, Frederick Hermann
Frederick Herman Knubel (May 22, 1870-Oct. 16, 1945). American Lutheran pastor. United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA) president, 1918-1944. Born in New York City, N.Y. Graduated from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, Gettysburg, Pa. in 1895. Graduate work at the University of Leipzig, Germany, 1895-96. Ordained 1896. Founder and pastor of Church of the Atonement, New York City, 1896-1923. First president of the ULCA, 1918-1944. One of the early leaders in Lutheran World Convention and the National Lutheran Council.
