Cramer, Harriet L.
Jacob Kamm was born in 1823 in Switzerland.
He came the United States as a small child with his parents. He was a pioneer steamboat engineer and transportation tycoon who made his fortune in Oregon. He became part-owner in the Jennie Clark, the first stern-wheeler in the Pacific Northwest. He married Caroline Gray in 1859. He was one of the founders of the Oregon Steam Navigation Company with John C. Ainsworth. His company - Oregon Steam Navigation Company, controlled boats on all the important western rivers. He died in Portland in 1912.
