Stumberg, George Wilfred

A professor of law at the University of Texas from 1925 until his death in 1964, Stumberg was a national authority on conflict of laws, criminal law, and admiralty, and his textbooks on these subjects were used in law schools across the U.S. Recognized as an outstanding teacher, he was promoted to the rank of "distinguished professor" in 1913-1914, and taught law at his alma mater, Louisiana State University, before coming to Texas. During World War II he worked for the Board of Economic Warfare.
