Edith (Luda) Watson was a resident at Hull-House during the 1890s. During her residency, Watson served as club leader at the settlement house, helping to lead groups such as the Sewing Club. She left Hull-House in 1899/1900 when she married Frank Bartlett. Soon after their marriage, the couple left Chicago for Drummond, Wisconsin. While her husband became the manager of the Rust-Owen lumber company, Luda Watson retained her interest in organizing clubs, going on to help with the Drummond town library and the Drummond Thursday Club. She also became active in Republican politics, and was described by one observer as "one of the most prominent women, politically, in the past generation."
