Stark, James, ca. 1817-1892.
Stark, a native of Scotland, moved to Jacksonville, Illinois in 1836, and to Augusta, Illinois in 1842, where he became a wealthy dry goods merchant. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1837, he served as an elder/preacher for many years on a rotating rather than a fulltime basis.
