American Samoa.

The Office of the Secretary of Native Affairs was created in 1903 under the direction of the naval governor of American Samo. This Office directed the judiciary, acted as liaison between the naval governor and the Samoan people, and supervised district governors, judges, magistrates, police, the copra industry, and collection of taxes. It was abolished in 1931. Administrative duties were taken over by the newly created Office of the Attorney General, and a separate judicial branch was created under a chief justice.
