Hogg, John, 1765-1826.
John Hogg (1765-1826), a merchant of Hillsborough and Wilmington, N.C., was a partner in several mercantile businesses in Hillsborough, Wilmington, Raleigh, and Fayetteville, N.C., some of them operating simultaneously. Among his partners at various times were Andrew Adie, Robert Adam, William Meng, and Robert Halliday. In 1815 he purchased from William Meng the latter's share of Hogg and Company of Wilmington; Hogg and Meng of Fayetteville; and Hogg, Halliday, and Meng of Fayetteville.
