Charles J. Pederson was the only DuPont research chemist to win the Nobel Prize. He was employed at the Jackson Laboratory in Deepwater, N.J. from 1927 to 1957 and thereafter at the Experimental Station near Wilmington, Del. His greatest achievements, including the prize-winning discovery of crown compounds, occurred during the latter assignment.
