Marcum, John A.
Marcum joined the faculty of the University of California Santa Cruz in 1972 where he has served as the university-wide director of the eduction abroad program. He began his teaching career at Colgate University where he taught political science and international relations and became immersed in the study of the decolonization of Africa. He is a former president of the African Studies Association, author of a two-volume study of the Angolan Revolution, a television panelist on PBS, and journal editor. His most recent research has focused on higher education.
