Halsted Society
Formed in 1923, the Halsted Society honored the memory of William Steward Halsted (1852-1922), whom the founders felt had introduced a new philosophy and a basic scientific approach to the field of surgery. The society's purpose is to perpetuate Dr. Halsted's memory, to further the doctor's scientific ideals and principles, and encourage a free and informal exchange of ideas on various aspects of surgery.
