Thurston family.
Samuel Thurston was a native of Maine who came to Oregon in 1847. He lived in the Hillsboro area, practiced law, and served in the Oregon Territorial Legislature. He was the territory's first delegate to the U.S. Congress and opposed African-American immigration to Oregon.
