Stewart, David J. (David James), 1968-
David James Stewart was born in London and educated privately. He was admitted a pensioner at Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1833, at the age of 19, and matriculated in 1834 (B.A., 1839; M.A., 1842). He was ordained deacon in 1839, and priest in 1840. Stewart was curate of Adderbury, Oxfordshire, 1843-1848, vicar of Hillmarton, Wiltshire, 1849-1850, and honorary canon of Ely, 1893-1898. He was H.M. Inspector of Schools, 1851-1891. He died on 18 March 1898.
