Hunter, Anna Colquitt, 1892-1985

Anna Colquitt Hunter (also Anna Habersham Colquitt Hunter), widow of George L. C. Hunter, was born in Savannah on January 21, 1892. After the death of her husband she became a reporter on the Savannah Morning News. She was at one time the Society Editor and was Literary Editor at the time of her retirement. In addition to her newspaper work, she is also an artist of note, and was one of the organizers of the Historic Savannah Foundation, Inc., which spearheaded the preservation movement in Savannah. She wrote and published several short sketches. During World War II, she spent two years in North Africa with the American Red Cross Field Service.
