School of Domestic Arts and Sciences of Chicago
Originally a philanthropic institution founded by wealthy Chicago clubwomen to professionalize domestic labor. Northwestern University acquired the school in 1943 and it became the foundation of NU's Home Economics Department (1943-1973).
