Scouler, Ethel, 1899-1995.
Orchid collector. Between 1941 and 1952, when she lived with her husband at the schoolhouse of the Yarloop State School, she was an avid collector of the orchids of the area. She sent specimens of these to William Henry Nicholls, a prominent botanist in Victoria. He was author of "Orchids of Australia" which was published after his death in 1951. One orchid - the sun orchid (thelymitra variegata) - was named in honour of Ethel Scouler.
