Civil war soldier; enlisted 20 August 1862 at Trumansburg, New York, to serve three years; mustered in 3 September 1862 as first sergeant, Company I, 137th New York Infantry Regiment; wounded in action, 29 October 1863 at Wauhatche, Tennessee; transferred to Company G of the 5th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps, 16 January 1865; discharged on 5 July 1865 at Indianapolis.
