Goldwell, Thomas
Thomas Goldwell, bishop of Asaph. In 1539, he was attained with Reginald Pole. In spring of 1555, Pole tried to negotiate a peace between Charles V and Henry II. His effort resulted in a peace conference at Marck, near Calais that started in mid May and broke off within a month. On July 2, Pole sent Goldwell to Rome to give information on English affairs to the newly elected Pope Paul IV.
