Hiltzheimer, Jacob, 1748-1798.

Jacob Hiltzheimer was a German immigrant to Philadelphia in 1748, where he was apprenticed to the silversmith John Nagle, but left to take up farming. He was active in political and social organizations in Philadelphia: vice-president of the German Society; member of the Society for Promoting Agriculture, the Society for the Promotion of Domestic Manufacture, and the Fire Department.
