Chapman, William, 1879-1929,

The draftman and architect, William Chapman, worked in Charles Brigham's office during the 1895 addition to the State House, serving as draftsman and construction supervisor on the job. Twenty years later, Chapman designed the east and west wings of the State House with his firm Chapman, Sturgis and Andrews (1914-1917). It was probably in relation to this later project that Chapman created this particular site drawing in which he depicts the State House prior to his addition of the wings.
