Quincy family.
Josiah Quincy, Jr. (1744-1775) was a lawyer and leader of the Patriot cause in Boston, Mass. His son, Josiah (1772-1864) was a member of Congress, state politician, mayor of Boston from 1823 to 1827, and president of Harvard University from 1829 to 1845. His son, Josiah (1802-1882) was a public official, banker, businessman, and mayor of Boston from 1845 to 1849.
