International Society of Medical Health Officers.

The International Society of Medical Health Officers was established in 1928 to "promote closer profession and scientific coordination between administrative medical health officers; to render greater service in scientific administration in public health and raise the standard and ethics of public health administration." Membership was open to "graduates in medicine holding an unrevoked license to practice his profession in the country in which he lives and official and legal appointment or election to a position of administrative health officer of a department of health and so serving." Charleston public health officer Dr. Leon Banov served as the secretary treasurer of the organizations from 1937 to 1939 and president from 1939 to 1940.
