Biophysical Society
The Biophysical Society was founded in 1957 and held their first national meeting in 1958. Formed from interested parties in academic biophysics departments and members of physiological societies, the Society's focus has been in the education, training, career placement, and development of its members. Sub-groups within the society focus on specific areas within biophysics. The Society's journal, the Biophysical Journal, began publication in 1960.
