Orendorff Family.
Canton and Springfield family, descended from Revolutionary War soldier and German immigrant Christian Orendorff, prominent in business and political history of Illinois.
Alfred Orendorff, who married Julia Williams, the daughter of prominent Springfield businessman John Williams and Lydia Porter Williams, in 1870. He served in the Civil War as a Captain with I Company of the 133rd Infantry, Chairman of the State Central Committee of the Democratic Party, President of the International Bank and Trust Co. of Vinita, Indian Territory. Their son John, was secretary of the Bank and Trust Company of Tishomingo, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Their daughter, Edna(Lydia Edna), married John Francis Macpherson in 1911, and was a library assistant at the Illinois State Historical Library. William J. Orendorff, son of John and Margaret Sayle Orendorff, of Canton, Ill. was a founding partner in Parlin & Orendorff, bought by International Harvester in 1918. W.J. also served in the Illinois General Assembly from1884-1886 as a Republican. He organized the 1886 Orendorff Reunion and worked on a book of family history. His son Ulysses Grant Orendorff was owner of the Canton Ledger and president of the First State Bank & Trust of Canton. He also collected much genealogical history from Orendorffs across the country.
