Sudweeks, Henry, 1815-1900.

Henry Sudweeks was born in Isle of Grain, England, on September 11, 1815. After serving in the British navy, he arrived in New York in 1837 and in 1838 moved to Illinois. Sudweeks married Sarah Sweet in 1843, and the couple were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1852. In 1853 they traveled to Salt Lake City with the Saint Louis Company under Captain Moses Clawson, and settled in Nephi, Utah, in 1857. Sometime around 1880 the family moved to Piute County, where Henry and Sarah separated in 1882. Although the couple was not divorced, in 1890 Sudweeks married his niece, Emma Sudweeks, and was convicted of incest and sentenced to three years imprisonment. He was released from prison in 1891, when he was seventy-six years old and blind. Sudweeks died on May 20, 1900.
