Bassett, Marion Preston.
Writer and civic worker Bassett was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and received a B.A. from Wellesley College in 1916. She did postgraduate work at Columbia (1942-1944) and Cornell (1945). She worked with a national committee to change federal laws restricting birth control (1933-1934), and later with Planned Parenthood and the League of Women Voters.
