D, Univ. of Minnesota, 1943; taught at Univ. of Minnesota from 1939-50; professor of pediatrics at UCLA, 1950-72; specialist in immunology, multiple sclerosis, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS); Chairman, Dept. of Pediatrics, UCLA, 1950-64; director of American Board of Pediatrics from 1960-66; author of over 100 scholarly articles.
