Long Island Motor Parkway, Inc.
The Long Island Motor Parkway was a limited-access highway constructed by a private company headed by William K. Vanderbilt II. Originally designed as a private raceway, it was operated as a toll road until about 1940, after which some sections were abandoned and others turned over to local governments.
