Hartman, David E., b. 1850.
David E. Hartman was born Sept. 4, 1850 in Des Moines, IA to William and Martha (Parker) Hartman. William and Martha were married Sept. 4, 1827. They had 7 seven children: John W., b. 1828; Washington, b. 1831; Elizabeth Jane, b. 1833; Joseph, b. 1826; Margart [sic] Ann, b. 1845; Lavinia D., b. 1847 and David E., b. 1850. The four eldest children were baptized into the Methodist Episcopalian Church in Mansfield, Richland, OH in 1838. David E. Hartman left in May 1867 and arrived in Nisqually, WA about Oct. 1867. His father joined him in Nisqually. His mother passed away and was buried in Iowa in 1863. On Mar. 11, 1874 David E. Hartman married Sarah A. McAllister in Nisqually, WA. James McAllister, another pioneer of Thurston County, was her brother. James settled in the Nisqually area. It appears that the Hartmans may have owned the Nisqually Mill Company. James McAllister was killed in 1856 by a Native American sharpshooter.
