Society of Indiana Pioneers

In preparation for the State of Indiana's centennial celebration in 1916, the Indiana Historical Commission organized local centennial committees throughout the state. The chairman of the Indianapolis local centennial committee suggested organizing a society of people who were descendents of early Indiana settlers and the Society of Indiana Pioneers was established on 15 September 1916. The Society office is currently located in the Indiana State Library at Indianapolis.
