Stafford, Jean, 1915-1979
Jean Stafford was an American author, best known for her realistic and sublimely crafted short stories. Much of her fiction invoked classical literary themes, but viewed them through the perspective of an alienated, 20th century woman. Many of her stories reflected her own tumultuous, often melodramatic personal life.
