Alschuler, Samuel, 1859-1939
Judge of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (1915-1936). Admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1881. Practiced alone for several years before forming a partnership with John C. Murphy in 1890. Appointed to the state Commission of Claims in 1893. Served as member (Democrat) of the Illinois House of Representatives from Kane County (1896-1900). Formed the partnership of Kraus, Alschuler and Holden in 1901. Served as arbitrator during the meat packing labor dispute (1918). Unofficially served as legal advisor for President Harding's coal fact-finding commission (1922). Retired in 1936 and died three years later, November 9, 1939.
