Tri-State Regional Medical Program.

The Tri-State program was incorporated in 1966 as Medical Care and Education Foundation Inc. (MCEF) for the purpose of coordinating medical education and improving the quality of care available to heart disease, cancer, and stroke patients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The program, which was directed by Leona Baumgartner until 1972 when Robert W. Murphy assumed the position, was funded by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare to support health delivery contracts in the three-state area and it involved hospitals, medical schools, research institutions and community care facilities. The program existed until 1976.
