Parker, Matthew, 1945-
Africa American evangelical ministry executive and consultant; born on November 14, 1945; raised in Detroit; post-high school education at Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music (1970), BA from Wheaton College (1977), and MA in Education Administration from University of Detroit (1987); Wheaton College's first Minority Student Advisor (1973-1978); instrumental in establishing urban ministry training and leadership development programs at William Tyndale College and Bryan College; involved in church planting project in Detroit, including as interim pastor; planned and directed 1984, 1986 and 1990 National Summits on Black Church Development and co-chaired Atlanta '88: Congress on Evangelizing Black America; formed Institute for Black Family Development; member of executive committee of Religious Alliance Against Pornography.
